By Yutang Sports 07 May 2015

Two golf events in the name of Feng Shanshan appeared! On Buick Championship Press Conference. Feng Shanshan explained the origin of the events and why she would like to do that.

“All of this comes from my coach—Gary Gilchrist’s idea, and he established golf academies in America. His academies once were sponsors of ‘All-Star Series’. This year, they changed their minds, turning to higher level events, namely ‘Opens’,” Feng said, “So they came to me and asked me if I was interested in their ideas. I felt so good and agreed pleasantly.”

AJGA is divided into five levels. For those players who never plays in America, they have to start from the first level to get scores and then climb up step by step. The All-Star Series sponsored by GGGA belongs to the third level, but now they come to the fourth one, namely the Opens. The level above the fourth level is invitational tournament, namely the highest level. If a teenager could participates the Opens, he must be quite outstanding. While if he wants to be engaged in invitational tournament, he must have brilliant performance in Opens.

The events in the name of Feng are called as “Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy/Shanshan Feng Junior Championship”.

The event is open for teenagers between 12 and 18 years old, which is totally 54 holes and going to be held at the Reserve at Spanos Park from August 17th to 20th.

Shanshan Feng is a Chinese professional golfer who plays on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. She is the first player from China to become a member of the LPGA Tour, which she joined in 2008.
