The world’s best female golfers will soon face off in Beijing at the 2014 Reignwood Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Classic. Held over four days from October 2 to 5, this key fixture on the LPGA tour is sure to attract golf fans from across China.

The Reignwood LPGA Classic has once again been chosen as the starting point for the fall season of the LPGA Asia Swing, which will be held in five Asian countries.

Staged at Pine Valley Golf Club in Changping district, the tournament will host 81 leading international players, including 62 LPGA players, 15 players from China Ladies Profession Players Ranking List and four sponsor exemptions. Four of the top five golfers on the LPGA will be competing in the tournament, with the eventual winner claiming Asia’s largest prize of $2.1 million.

The tournament favorites are world top players Stacy Lewis from the US, Inbee Park from South Korea, and Norwegian Suzann Pettersen.

China’s very own Feng Shanshan, who claimed victory at Reignwood last year, is also coming into the event with high expectations.

The new face at the tournament this year is Norwegian Suzann Pettersen. Although this is her first time to compete in Beijing, she is not new to China, having won the 2013 World Ladies Championship in Haikou, Hainan Province.

The tournament organizers also announced a new segment this year, with a tree to be planted at the Pine Valley Golf Club in honour of the reigning champion as a tradition for Reignwood LPGA Classic.
