PGA Champions Tour coming to China

On August 4th, PGA Champions Tour announced in a news conference at the 27 club in Tianjin, China that Pacific Links China Championship will take place in the city during Sept. 16 to 20. This is the first time Champions tour of PGA has come to China.

The Champions Tour is a yearly golf competition organized by PGA Tour with the most members of World Golf Hall of Fame among all the tours.

The total prize of Pacific Links China Championship will amount to 2.5 million dollars.

Greg Gilligan, Vice President of PGA Tour and Managing Director of Greater China said, golf had enjoyed fast development in Asia and the best opportunities were to be found in China; with the rapid economic development and increasing golf lovers, there would be more professional golf events of high levels held in China, including those of PGA tour.

As PGA’s partner, Pacific Links has sponsored Hawaii Championship for 3 consecutive years. Du Xia, President of Pacific Links explained, the reason they moved the championship from Hawaii to China was to adapt to the needs of Chinese golf markets and promote golf in China.
