Chinese online streaming company Le Sports announced yesterday that it has obtained naming rights for Beijing’s iconic Wukesong Arena in a five-year deal signed with the venue owner, Bloomage International Investment Group.
Under the landmark deal, Le Sports will replace MasterCard, a leading global payments company, as the new title sponsor for the sports and entertainment venue for next five years. The 18,000-seater venue will be renamed the Le Sports Eco-center from January 1, 2016.
The deal is significant in that Le Sports will be the first internet company in China to sponsor the venue. The intention is to build it into a world-class sports arena equipped with intelligent facilities.
Le Sports, together with Bloomage International Investment Group and Chinese telecommunication company ZTE, have set up a company to run the venue with the aim of upgrading it into a hi-tech arena covered by communication networks, an interconnection network and Internet of things.
The Le Sports Eco-center is of great importance for Le Sports in order to build public awareness of its brand and services in China and to continue the rapid expansion of its sports portfolio.
