China Digital Culture (Group) Limited announced Wednesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Taiwan songwriter Jay Chou to establish a cross-strait e-sport gaming company.
Under the MOU, Chou, who is also an e-gaming fan, will allow China Digital to exclusively use his name and image for six years in exchange for 10 million shares, or a 0.25 percent stake in the company.
Chou first appeared in Hollywood as an actor in the movie "Green Hornet," which also starred Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Christoph Waltz. He is famous all over Asia and is considered to be one of the continent's answers to American male superstars like Justin Timberlake and Usher.
Last year, Chou announced to endorse the League of Legends gaming Website and to assemble and lead a gaming team.
China Digital is an investment holding company registered in the Cayman Islands and listed on the Growth Enterprise Market of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. China Digital said it initiated contact with Chou after learning that he was planning to establish the first professional e-sport gaming team in Taiwan.
