Udinese to sell shares to China

By He Lanying 12 Mar 2016

Giampaolo Pozzo, the owner of Italian Serie A side Udineser may sell 15-20% of the club's shares to an unknown Chinese investor, according to an Italian news website.

The Zebrette are coming to the end of a torrid Serie A campaign, but they are also undergoing some significant financial innovations, most notably related to their new stadium.

According to CalcioeFinanza.it, they may complement their investment in a new stadium by selling part of their assets to a foreign investor.

Gino Pozzo, son of Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo, is believed to have ironed out the deal during a recent business trip to China.

The Italian club would sell 15-20% of their shares in an operation comparable to that of Atletico Madrid, who sold part of their assets to Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group.

The identity of Udinese's new business partner is being kept under wraps, but it may be revealed in the same Press conference that will present the new stadium.
