The chief director of General Administration of Sports Mr Liu Peng and the general secretary of Chinese Olympic Committee Mr Song Luzeng visited the headquarters of FIBA on behalf of Chinese Olympic Committee.
They were welcomed by and had a meeting with Patrick Baumann, the general secretary of FIBA and a member of the International Olympic Committee.
The focus of the meeting was promotion of FIBA 33 in China and how to make it more popular among the large population of China. Basketball is very common among Chinese people now, and is the most played sport in China.
In 2014 there were three FIBA 33 events held in China, which assisted its promotion in China. The three events were ISF Basketball 3x3 2014 World Schools Championship, FIBA 3x3 World Tour Beijing Masters, and games in Youth Olympic Games.
FIBA 33 is a new form of basketball originated from America. FIBA started to make official rules for it from 2007. The first time the sport was adopted by an international game was in Singapore Youth Olympic Games.
