According to a report on a program of the state radio station CNR, e-sports has been added to the curriculum of Chinese vocational educational schools. This change is indicated in a new document published recently by the Ministry of Education for student admissions to Chinese Vocational Education. E-Sports is listed under the category of Education and Sports Major.
In 2015 the value of the Chinese e-sports market reached RMB26.9 and is likely to achieve significant growth as broadcasting of e-sports, advertising and the fan economy develop further.
However, e-sports has some problems in this market. Prize money for events is even less than endorsement fees and is lower than the salary of the hosts of e-sports gaming broadcasting. As a result, many Chinese e-sports athletes are not willing to commit totally to the sport and that leads to poorer competition performances.
