Chinese newpaper Nanfang Dushi Bao (literally South Metropolitan Newspaper) reported that since the Evergrande Football School was established in 2012, the Evergrande Group has invested 2 billion Yuan in it. Now, this academy has developed a successful youth training system including both football skills training and cultural education.
The newspaper said that Evergrande Football School has set up football teams of different age ranges and genders have won 4 championships, as well as achieving 6 second places and 5 third places in various football competitions. Furthermore, more than 120 trainees have been recruited into the Chinese National Youth Football Team and National Junior Football Team. Many trainees are also joining Evergrande Taobao Football Club as reserve players.
As for their cultural education, in 2016, 37 out of 40 trainees who graduated at High School level from from Evergrande Football School entered universities or professional football clubs, according to Liu Jiangnan, Headmaster of Evergrande Football School.
The newspaper said that based on what Evergrande Football School has achieved, an investigation team from the Chinese Football Association and the Football Development & Reform Department of the State Council expressed their hope that Evergrande Football School could become a leading Chinese football academy.
