Yao Chen named a lululemon ambassador

By Chen Yaping 11 Apr 2018

lululemon, a Canadian athletic apparel retailer, has named Chinese actress Yao Chen as its brand ambassador for the year 2018.

Self-described as a yoga-inspired athletic apparel company, lululemon will work with Yao to motivate its communities to live the “sweat life” as well as raise health and fitness levels in Asian countries.

In December 2016, lululemon opened first four stores in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, aiming to reflect the communities where each store is located.

According to media reports, lululemon chose Yao because her healthy lifestyle, personal popularity and positive attitude fits well with their brand values.

The brand has released a series of publicity photos featuring Yao doing boxing training in lululemon’s newly-launched yoga sports bra. In addition to this, lululemon will also cooperate with Yao and the Tmall Club to launch offline campaigns in China, as part of the brand’s overall marketing plan for the Asian market.

Yao Chen, born in 1979, is named as “the Queen of Weibo” by fans due to her overwhelming popularity on Sina Weibo, Twitter’s counterpart in China. As of 2014, Forbes listed Yao as the 83rd most powerful woman in the world.
