Chinese eSports club RNG have announced Mercedes-Benz as their new official partner on June 17 at the first match of their summer LPL league played in their brand new home ground, Wukesong Arena in Beijing.
Currently, Mercedes-Benz sponsors the 2018 League of Legends Pro League (LPL) and recently sponsored the 2017 LOL World Championships in China. This is the first time they have sponsored an eSports club. Mercedes-Benz will specifically market one of its SUV types, the GLA SUV, targeting the younger generation.
Tencent Sports comments that the reason for this partnership is that Mercedes-Benz values the efforts RNG have put into brand building and the promotion of eSports, apart from the fact that RNG is one of the top eSports clubs in China right now.
On the same day, RNG also officially announced their new home ground, the Wukesong Arena in Beijing by organizing an opening ceremony and press conference. This makes RNG the first eSports club to have a home ground in Beijing and they will play their home games in this top class arena.
The ticket prices for RNG’s home games in Wukesong Arena are not expensive. According to online information, the prices for the ongoing 2018 summer LPL events are CNY50 (USD7.73) and CNY80 (USD12.36) each match, which is good news for fans.
RNG was founded in May 2012 and currently has teams in four eSports games, LPL, Overwatch, Kings of Glory and Freestyle (a street basketball game). Its LPL side won the 2018 Spring LPL, 2016 Spring LPL and other tournaments.
